Your childhood bedroom will one day belong to somebody else’s posters. Take a long look before you leave it.

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Rooms are temporary in a way that does not feel true while you are living in one. The walls get repainted, the posters come down, and the space that held everything you thought about between twelve and eighteen becomes an ordinary room in somebody’s house. That is not sad by itself. It only means the version you know has an end date you will not be told in advance.

Stand in it once and take it in properly. Photograph it as it is rather than tidied. Nothing needs preserving; you are only making sure you looked.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What in your room would you want to remember exactly?
