A library card is a free key to more knowledge than any billionaire had a hundred years ago.

Access to knowledge used to be a function of money and location. What is now available to anybody with a library card, at no cost, was out of reach of very wealthy people not long ago, and the size of that shift is easy to miss because it happened before you arrived. The building is unglamorous. What is inside it is not.
Get the card if you do not have one, and use it for something specific. One subject you have been curious about, three books, no obligation to finish them. Free is only worth anything if somebody walks in.
What would you look up first with a free library card?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
