Posting your new car in the chat where your friend just lost their job isn’t sharing. It’s scoring.

Good news shared at the wrong moment stops being news and becomes a comparison, whatever you intended. Timing carries the whole message. Wanting to be seen is human, and the cost of it here lands on someone already having the worst month of their year. Reading the room is not the same as hiding.

Before posting something that went well, take a second to consider who is in that room. Tell the people who will simply be glad, directly and privately. The group chat can wait a week.
