Workplaces run on small confidences nobody formalises. Something said while tired and off-guard is not material for you to pass along, even when it is interesting and repeating it would cost you nothing. Once you become the person things travel through, people stop speaking near you, and nobody ever explains why. Discretion is invisible until it goes missing.

Let something you heard this week stay exactly where you heard it. If you are unsure whether it was meant to travel, assume it was not. That assumption will never cost you as much as the other one.
