An essay a machine wrote for you is a trophy for a race you didn’t run.

Handing in work you did not do produces the mark without the thing the mark was standing in for. The grade was never the point; it was a proxy for having wrestled with something and come out able to do it. Skipping that leaves you with a receipt for an experience you never had. The gap surfaces later, in the room where it counts.

Use the tools for the parts that genuinely are not the lesson. Write the argument yourself, badly if that is how it comes out. The struggle is the curriculum, and there is no way to buy it.
