Knowing someone’s password is trust, not permission.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Being given access is a statement about how safe someone feels with you, and nothing beyond that. The moment you use it to check on them, the gift becomes surveillance, even if what you find is nothing at all. The urge usually comes from anxiety rather than suspicion, which is worth naming, because looking never actually settles the anxiety.
If you want to know something, ask the question directly and sit with whatever answer arrives. Leave the phone where it is. A relationship that needs monitoring to feel safe needs a conversation instead.
What access have you been given that you almost misused?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
