Saying “every role matters” is easy. Leaders prove it by learning what the equipment manager actually does.

REFLECTION
Stating that everyone is important costs nothing and is therefore believed by nobody. The proof is specific knowledge: what the job involves, when it is hardest, what makes it go wrong. Learning that takes time you could have spent elsewhere, which is exactly what makes it convincing.
Choose the role in your group you understand least and spend an hour with the person who does it. Ask what the annoying part is and what people always get wrong about it. You will stop making at least three requests that were quietly unreasonable.
Whose job near you do you not actually understand?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
