Promises made in the locker room at full volume still count at 6 a.m. Only promise what you’ll do tired.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Commitments get made by the version of you that is excited and surrounded by people, and they get paid by the version of you that is cold and alone. Those two have very different capacities, and the first keeps agreeing to things the second has to carry out. That gap is where most broken promises live.
Before agreeing to something out loud, picture the morning it actually requires and ask whether that person will do it. Promise the smaller version you are sure of. Then let the early mornings you do turn up for say the rest.
What did you commit to loudly and quit quietly?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
