Ranting online gets likes. Organizing twelve people with a sign-up sheet gets the vending machine changed.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Complaint and organizing feel adjacent and are not. One produces agreement, which is pleasant and changes nothing; the other produces a specific number of people committed to a specific action, which is unglamorous and occasionally works. The difference is whether anybody has been asked to do something they can actually do.

Take something you have been annoyed about and write down the smallest concrete change that would fix it. Then ask ten people to sign, turn up, or send one message. A short list of real names is more persuasive than any amount of agreement.
