What transfers between two unrelated activities is rarely the technique. It is the tolerance for being bad at something for weeks, the willingness to slow a passage down and repeat it, the habit of breaking a hard thing into a smaller thing. Those carry across subjects even when nothing else does, which is why people who stuck with one difficult thing tend to find the next one less frightening.
When something new defeats you, ask how you learned the last hard thing you got good at. Use that method rather than inventing one. You already have proof it works, and the proof is in a different room.
