Nothing anyone accomplishes is produced alone, and the single-name version of a story is a convenience rather than an account. Behind any result there is a person who taught you the thing, one who covered for you, one who said the sentence that kept you going, and none of them appear when the story gets told quickly. The list is long for everybody.

Actually write yours down, with names. Then tell two of them what they contributed and be specific about it. Most people have no idea they are in anyone’s credits, and hearing it is a rare thing to receive.
