Waiting to feel passion before you start is backwards. Passion usually shows up after you get decent.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Enthusiasm is usually a result rather than a starting condition. Early on everything is clumsy and slightly humiliating, which does not feel like love, and most people read that stage as proof they picked wrong. Competence tends to arrive first, with the feeling walking in behind it.

Choose something you are curious about and give it a fixed run, six weeks or so, before judging how you feel. Measure progress rather than excitement during that stretch. If no interest has appeared by the time you are merely decent, then you have a real answer.
