Loving your family and needing a weekend away from them can share the same heart without a fight.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Affection and a need for distance are not in conflict, although families often read any distance as a verdict. Being around people constantly uses something up no matter how much you love them. Wanting a break says nothing about the strength of the bond and a good deal about being a person with limits.
Take the time away without building a case for it or apologizing twice. Say when you will be back, which handles most of the worry it causes. You will very likely return with more patience than you left with, which was the whole point.
When did needing space make you feel disloyal?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
