Here’s a test for a goal: would you still want it if you could never post about it?

Some goals are yours and some were picked up because of how they would look once reported. The two are nearly impossible to separate from the inside, since both produce a genuine feeling of wanting. Removing the audience is the quickest way to find out which one you are holding.

Take your current main goal and imagine reaching it in complete privacy, with nobody ever knowing. If the appeal survives that, keep going. If it collapses, this is not a character flaw, it is a signal to look for the version you would want in silence.
