You’re not a writer because of your bio. You’re a writer on the days you actually write.

The label is available to anyone and costs nothing, which is exactly why it settles nothing. Doing the work is the only thing that produces the state the label was meant to describe. That is harsher in one way and much easier in another, since the entry requirement is a session rather than somebody’s permission.

Stop auditing whether you qualify and look at when you last actually did it. If the answer is a while ago, do a short one today at whatever quality turns up. The identity sorts itself out behind a run of ordinary working days.
