Some emotions need expression; others simply need enough time to change temperature.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Some feelings need to be said out loud to someone before they resolve. Others need nothing but time, and expressing them mainly rehearses and strengthens them. Treating every feeling the same way means either bottling things that needed air or endlessly airing things that only needed an afternoon. Knowing which is which comes from paying attention to what actually helps.
Next time something is churning, ask whether saying it would move anything or only repeat it. If there is a real thing to convey to a real person, say it. If it is a mood that will pass, give it a walk and a night before deciding it needs an audience.
