A spinning top is most stable when it’s moving fastest. Sometimes balance needs motion.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Certain kinds of steadiness only exist while something is in motion, and trying to find them by standing still produces the opposite. A routine or a regular practice can hold you upright in a way that rest alone does not, which is why an empty week sometimes feels worse than a full one. Stability is not always stillness.

If you are wobbling, look at whether you have stopped moving rather than assuming you need more rest. Put one reliable rhythm back in the week, at the same time on the same days. Then judge it after two weeks rather than after one morning.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

When does keeping busy actually steady you rather than drain you?
