Patterns repeat, because they come from something in the person rather than from something about you. What was done to you will be done to someone else, in front of people, without any assistance from you. Revenge mostly costs the person taking it, in time and attention that go to someone who has already taken enough.

Step out of it rather than settling it. Say what is true if you are asked, once, without building a case. Then put your energy into your own year. Relief is much more likely to arrive from distance than from any confrontation you could arrange.
