Traffic jams feel permanent from inside the car. Nobody lives in one.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Being inside something difficult removes your sense of its duration. There is no view of the front, no information about the cause, and the mind fills that gap with the assumption that this is now the situation. Almost nothing you have been stuck in has turned out to be permanent, though almost all of it felt that way at the time.
When you catch yourself believing a bad stretch is the new normal, look for actual evidence about its length. Ask someone who has been through something similar. Meanwhile, make the car bearable rather than trying to make the traffic move.
Which stuck feeling are you treating as permanent?
