Constant intervention looks like care and functions like pressure. Every check interrupts the thing you are checking on, and what gets inspected hourly never gets a run long enough to develop. The tight grip usually comes from anxiety about the outcome, which is exactly the feeling that makes the grip tighter.

Decide in advance when you will look, then leave it alone between those points. Give the people involved, or yourself, a stretch of uninterrupted time. Quality needs a margin around it, and inspection keeps eating that margin.
