A new habit is a seedling. Don’t show it to the people who step on everything.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Something you have just started is not yet strong enough to survive a bad reaction. The doubt does not even have to be aimed at you; a shrug at the wrong moment is enough to make you quietly stop. A month later, with some weeks behind it, the same comment bounces off.

Keep the new thing to yourself, or to one person who wants it to work. Give it a while before it becomes conversation. If somebody does step on it, treat the reaction as information about them and carry on anyway.
