Justice fails when winning becomes more important than discovering what actually happened.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
The moment the goal shifts from finding out what happened to prevailing, everything downstream corrupts. Evidence gets selected, doubts get suppressed, and the people involved become obstacles or assets rather than sources of information. This happens in courts, in workplaces, and in kitchen-table arguments, and it feels from inside like determination rather than distortion.
When you are in a dispute, check whether you would still want to know a fact that helped the other side. If the honest answer is no, you have stopped investigating. Saying out loud that you want to understand before deciding, and meaning it, changes the temperature of a room faster than almost anything else.
Which argument did you win without ever finding out the truth?
