You’d never let your phone run on 2 percent all week. Time alone is plugging yourself in.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Nothing recovers without being given the conditions for it. You accept that without argument for a device and then run yourself for weeks on almost nothing, treating the need for quiet as an inconvenience rather than as maintenance. The depletion is not a character problem. It is what happens to anything that is used continuously.
Put a stretch of unclaimed time in the week before it is needed rather than after you are empty. An hour is enough if it is genuinely yours. Treat it as ordinary upkeep and it stops feeling like something you have to earn.
How low did you let yourself run before taking an evening off?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
