Talking yourself through a problem out loud isn’t weird. Your ears catch things your head skips.

Speech and thought run on different tracks, and moving something from one to the other exposes the gaps. In your head a plan can skip three steps and still feel complete, while out loud the missing steps are audible. Hearing your own reasoning is a way of getting a second opinion without involving anybody.
Talk through your next stuck problem alone, out loud, as though explaining it to someone who knows nothing about it. Resist tidying as you go. The place where you start hedging is usually the part you have not actually worked out.
