Win in public if you have to. Do your learning in private, where the lessons don’t get turned into memes.

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Learning looks clumsy, and clumsiness in front of an audience gets treated as a verdict. Practice needs room to be bad, repetitive and uninteresting, and none of that survives being watched by people ready to form an opinion. Keeping the process private protects the part where improvement actually happens.

Find somewhere with no audience for the work that is still rough: an empty hour, a private notebook, one person who will not repeat things. Save the public version for what is ready. Your mistakes deserve better company than a crowd looking for something to share.
