Hours spent learning something hard never really disappear. They show up later when you need them most.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Difficult learning does not store itself as facts you can recite. It settles in as a way of approaching things, a tolerance for confusion, a sense of how long to stay with a problem before it gives. That is why effort can feel wasted at the time and then turn up years later in a situation with nothing to do with the original subject.
When something is slow going this week, stop measuring it by what you can show for it today. Ask instead what it is teaching you about staying with hard things. Then give it another twenty minutes.
Which hard thing you studied has quietly helped you since?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
