Not every friend is meant to be a lifer. Some are summer friends, and summer still matters.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Friendships can be complete without being permanent. Someone who was right for one season, one job or one year is not a failed friendship, they are a whole one, and it ended because circumstances moved rather than because anybody did something wrong. Judging every connection by whether it lasted undervalues most of them.
Let yourself keep the ones that have run their course as good things rather than as losses. And give the current ones your attention without needing to know how long they will go on. Some of them will surprise you by staying.
Which friendship of yours ended naturally and still mattered?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
