The house you grew up in will belong to strangers someday. Notice the doorframe with your height marks.

Places you know completely feel permanent in a way they are not. A house is a set of rooms to everyone else and an entire internal map to you, and that map only exists while you can still walk through it. At some point the marks on the doorframe will belong to people who have no idea whose they were.
Photograph the boring parts next time you are there, the hallway, the kitchen, the view from your old window. Not for posting. Later those will be worth more to you than any picture taken at an occasion.
What detail of your childhood home do you never look at?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
