Five years angry at someone is five years you’re never getting back. Make sure it’s worth that price.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Holding anger takes ongoing effort, and that effort comes out of your days rather than theirs. The other person is usually not paying the fee; they may not even know the account is open. None of that makes what they did acceptable, and putting it down is not the same as saying it was fine.

Ask what the anger is doing for you, honestly, because sometimes it protects something worth protecting. If it is only costing you, set it down in pieces rather than all at once. You can stop carrying it without ever deciding they deserved that.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

How long have you been angry at that person?
