Keeping your word registers before anyone comments on it. Each time you arrive when you said you would, a small adjustment happens in somebody’s head about whether you can be counted on, and those adjustments stack into a reputation you never had to argue for. The same mechanism runs in reverse, just as quietly.

Look at the commitments you have made for the next week and cut any you will probably wriggle out of. Keep the rest exactly. Being slightly less generous with your promises and completely reliable on the ones you make is a better trade than it sounds.
