The person you hurt doesn’t owe you progress reports on how they’re healing.
STILLNESS
STILLNESS
Asking whether someone is over it yet moves the burden back onto them. It requires the injured person to manage your discomfort, to reassure you, and to perform a recovery on a timetable set by the one who caused the injury. That is a second small demand placed on top of the first.
Do the work and leave the checking alone. Be consistent, be available, and let them tell you in their own time or not at all. If you need reassurance, find it somewhere that does not cost the person you hurt anything further.
