Loyalty is picking the same person on the day they’re hard to pick.

Loyalty is not tested on the good days. Anyone can stay close to a person who is charming, useful and easy to be around, since that asks for no decision at all. The choice appears when someone is difficult, unpopular, in trouble, or simply dull company for a while. Staying then is the entire substance of it.

Think of someone who has become hard work lately and move toward them once this week. You do not have to approve of everything in order to stay present. Say plainly that you are not going anywhere.
