Announcing the plan feels great. That’s the trap: your brain counts the applause as progress.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Telling people delivers a portion of the reward you were going to get for finishing, and the motivation quietly deflates afterward without you noticing why. The announcement was satisfying. The response was warm. Something in you registers that as movement, so the real work now has to happen without the pull that was meant to carry it.
Keep the next one quiet until there is something to show. Tell one person if you want a witness, ideally somebody who will ask about progress rather than congratulate the intention. Save the announcement for afterward.
Which goal did you announce and then stop working on?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
