RESILIENCE
The role is not mainly an honour, it is an exchange. You absorb criticism that was not all yours and you hand out praise that was partly yours, and doing that reliably is what makes a group willing to follow you. It is also uncomfortable, permanently, in a way nobody mentions while handing over the armband. The discomfort is not a sign you are doing it badly.
Practise the two halves separately this week. After something goes wrong, say we rather than naming anyone; after something goes well, name somebody else out loud. Both are harder than they sound and both get noticed.
When did you take blame that was not only yours?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
