Sometimes the missing piece is important precisely because everything else seems to fit.

REFLECTION
A picture where everything lines up neatly is worth a second look, because real situations are usually messier than that. When the account explains every detail without strain, it often means something has been left out, or that the story was built to fit the available pieces and the missing one would have complicated it. Tidiness can be a symptom rather than a virtue.
When an explanation seems to work perfectly, ask what you have not been able to check. Look specifically for the piece nobody has mentioned. The smoothness of a story is not evidence of its accuracy, and the item you cannot verify is usually the one that matters.
What is absent from an explanation that otherwise satisfies you?
