An internship that teaches you what you don’t want to do is still a win. Cheaper to learn it now.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Ruling something out is real information, and it is far cheaper to buy at seventeen than at thirty. People treat a bad placement as wasted time when it has just saved them a degree and several years pointed the wrong way. Knowing the shape of the work from inside is not available from any description. Either answer is worth having.

After anything you try, write down what you liked and what you could not stand, in detail, while it is fresh. Keep those notes together. Over a few years they will point somewhere, which is more than any careers questionnaire manages.
