Winning once can teach the wrong lesson more effectively than losing once.

A single win writes a very confident lesson, and it is often the wrong one. Losing makes you review; winning makes you conclude. Whatever you happened to do on the successful day gets promoted to method, including the parts that were irrelevant or actively harmful, because success does not sort its own ingredients.
After something works, separate what you controlled from what merely co-occurred. Ask which parts you could defend to a skeptic who had not seen the result. That small act of sorting keeps one good day from becoming a rule you cannot question later.
What did an early success convince you of too quickly?
