You’ll never see most of the good your work does. Lifeguards rarely get thanked for the rescue that never had to happen.

Prevention leaves no trace, which means most of the good done by careful work is invisible by design. The problem that never happened produces no gratitude and no story, and the people who benefited never learn they were at risk. That is uncomfortable if you need feedback to keep going. It is also where a great deal of important work lives.
Learn to count the things that did not go wrong: the shift where nothing happened because you watched, the error you caught early, the friend who was fine partly because you checked. Keep your own tally.
