You can build a good life on a job you never dreamed about. Dignity doesn’t need a dream title.

Dreaming about a job and being able to live well from one are separate questions. Work supplies money, structure, people, and the feeling of being decent at something, and a job you never imagined can provide all four, which is how a great many contented people ended up where they are. The title is the least transferable part of it. We just hear about that part first.
If what you are doing now is not what you pictured, it is still worth asking what it gives you. Notice whether the hours, the people and the usefulness suit you, separately from whether the name of it impresses anybody.
Could you respect a job you never pictured yourself doing?
