Your best opportunity might come from someone outside your field. Be curious about everybody’s job.

LEADERSHIP
Most opportunities travel along weak connections rather than strong ones. People inside your field know the same openings you do, while somebody in a different line of work hears about things nobody in your circle has seen, which is why useful turns arrive from unlikely directions. Breadth of acquaintance beats depth for this. It is also easier to come by than it sounds.
So get genuinely curious about what people do all day, including the ones whose jobs sound dull. Ask how it works, what the hard part is, who they deal with. Interest is not a tactic, and it happens to work like one.
Whose job have you never bothered to ask a question about?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
