Want to lead someday? Start by being someone people can vent to without it getting around.
LEADERSHIP
LEADERSHIP
Authority gets handed to people who have already proved something about discretion. Long before anybody offers you a role, people are quietly working out whether what they tell you stays with you, and that reputation is built in moments you barely register. One repeated story can cost you years of it. Being safe to talk to is the first part of leading and the cheapest part to start.
Next time somebody tells you something while upset, keep it entirely to yourself, including from the person you tell everything. Notice how rare that is. Nobody will thank you and more people will come to you.
Can people tell you something hard and trust it stops there?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
