The coach who stayed late with you will never put it on a résumé. Put them in your speech someday.

LEADERSHIP
Some of the most useful work anybody does for you is entirely undocumented. Staying behind after practice appears in nobody’s record of achievements, and it is often the thing that changed the direction you took. Those people rarely know what it did, because almost nobody circles back to tell them. Acknowledgement has to be given on purpose or it does not happen at all.
You do not have to wait for a speech. Send one message to somebody who stayed late for you and say specifically what it meant. People keep those far longer than you would guess.
Who stayed late for you when nobody was making them?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
