Speedrunners spend hundreds of hours shaving off seconds. Ambition can be weird and still be real.

Dedication does not have to point at something respectable in order to be genuine. Hundreds of hours spent perfecting a route through a game involves the same discipline, analysis and tolerance for repetition as anything more official, and the people doing it are not confused about whether it matters to them. Ambition is mostly about depth of attention rather than the prestige of the subject.

Stop apologising for the thing you are oddly serious about. Give it real time this week and get properly good at it. Skills learned on a strange obsession transfer more often than you would think.
