Taking credit for the group’s work feels good for about one class period.
RESILIENCE
RESILIENCE
Claiming somebody else’s work pays out once, in one room, for a few minutes. Everybody who actually did it knows exactly what happened, and those are the people you will need in the next group, the next shift, the next reference. The credit evaporates while the accurate account of it circulates quietly for years.
When somebody asks how it went, name who did what, especially whoever did the dull part. If you have already taken more than you earned, correct it out loud with the people involved. Being generous with credit costs you nothing you could measure.
When did you accept praise that belonged to somebody else?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
