Adjectives about yourself ask the listener to take your word for it, which puts them in the position of judging the claim. An example hands over the evidence and lets them reach their own conclusion, which is why it comes across as calm instead of needy.

Rewrite one line of how you describe yourself before your next application. Cut the word hardworking and put in the eight months of Saturday openings. Say what you did and let it sit there without a label on top.
