REFLECTION
REFLECTION
Being certain you are right about a moral question feels different from being certain about a fact, but the reliability is not better. Moral confidence is shaped by upbringing, by the people around you, and by what is currently unquestionable in your setting, all of which have been wrong before and will be again.
Hold one of your firmest convictions up and ask what would change your mind. If nothing could, that is worth knowing about the belief, whether or not it is true.
Which of your convictions have you never once examined?
