Making music with friends is the fastest way to find out what you actually sound like.

Playing alone, you cannot hear yourself clearly, because you are inside the sound and also deciding everything in it. Put other people in the room and your own tendencies become visible by contrast: you rush, or you play too politely, or you always reach for the same shape. Other players react to you in real time, which is information practice alone cannot give.

Get two people into a room this week with no plan and play for an hour. Record it on a phone and listen back once. Make a note of what you kept doing, because that is the start of an honest description of your playing.
