Creative envy toward a friend is normal. Talking to them about how they did it is the better move.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Envy towards someone close is uncomfortable because it sits next to real affection, and most people respond by going quiet. Going quiet costs you twice: you keep the bad feeling and you lose access to the one person who could explain how they did the thing. The envy itself is not a moral failure, it is just unprocessed interest.

Pick the friend whose work has been bothering you and ask them something specific about how they made it. Not whether they are talented, but what their week looks like. The conversation usually dissolves most of the feeling and leaves you with something you can use.
