Fix your own small problems before calling for help. Call early on the big ones.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Judgement about when to ask is a skill of its own. Small problems are where you learn, and passing every one of them upward makes you expensive to supervise. Big problems run the other way, because waiting while they grow turns something fixable into a mess. Both mistakes feel like self-reliance from the inside, and only one of them is.

Set a rough line before you need it: a few minutes of trying on the small things, and immediate word on anything involving money, safety or somebody left waiting. Ask early on those and no one will ever mind.
