Every job has a learning curve. The trick is not calling the curve a wall.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

A curve and a wall feel identical in the first week. Everything new is slow and clumsy at the start, and the natural conclusion is that you are not suited to it, when the real explanation is that you are at the bottom of a climb everybody makes. Naming it correctly changes what you do next. One reading says quit and the other says carry on.

Give anything new a fixed trial, four weeks or ten shifts, before you judge it. Write down what was hard in week one and read it again in week four. Most of it will have quietly stopped being hard.
